Les pommiers is a 17th century stone house in a quiet village called Dancevoir which nestles in the forested valley of the Aube river in rural Eastern France. If you are looking for great walking or cycling along quiet roads or forests tracks this is it!

OUt door activities

The area is within the National Park for Forests. There are limitless possibilities for walking and cycling either along the quiet country roads or along forest tracks. Nearby lakes proved plenty of opportunity for swimming and other water sports.

You can walk or cycle to good local swimming holes in the river, great for picnics or drive to one of the lakes at Langres which have beaches. There is tennis in the village, golf, horse riding ,fishing and kayaking are all available near by.

Historic Towns

The house is well placed to explore historic towns such as the nearby medieval town of Langres ,or spend a day exploring Dijon, Troyes or Beaune. Why not visit Renoir's house at Essoyes, Chateaux at Dinteville or Tanlay or the wonderful Abbey at Fontenay

Excellent Local Produce

There are good markets at Chaumont, Langres and Troyes for regional produce. There are superb local cheeses such as Langres, Chaource and Époisses

Stroll down to the village shop to pick up pastries or have a drink at the bar with the locals. Jump in the car and follow the route de Crémant, visit Chablis, drive north for champagne, head south for Burgundian reds!

Alternatively sample the wines in the local vineyards where the 'Cremant' (similar to Champagne but much cheaper) shouldn't be missed! Or if you're not a wine drinker try the delicious local craft beer 'Chou'.
